A Journey to Munnar : An Unforgettable Trip with friends

 

Munnar is a quaint hill station in the state of Kerala renowned for its awe-inspiring landscapes, lush tea gardens and beautiful climate. My recent trip to Munnar with my friends was an experience that deepened our bonds and created cherished memories.

Our adventure began the morning with happiness and packed our bags with essentials-clothes, chappals and a camera to capture sweet moments . The journey was a very enjoyable trip. All the students landed at 5 o’clock. First, we went to the tea plantation and rolling hills. The rolling hills were covered in blanket of bushes of tea with  glistening leaves creating a beautiful sight for everyone. I watched tea pickers plucking leaves from the bushes. A visit to Munnar would be incomplete without exploring its famous tea gardens. We learned about the history and the process of tea production and enjoyed freshly brewed tea with a stunning view of the rolling hills. 

Our next destination was the echo point .After having some food we started to shout our beautiful names to the echo point and the mountain returned calls. It was a very funny moment for all. After taking pictures from each point and tea garden. We enjoyed every moment that we could. Then the sun started to set and it became dark. We went to a nearby hotel and ate food. After that, we gathered in front of a campfire. It was our last day in Munnar. We started to share our stories and unforgettable moments.

Our trip to Munnar was not just a journey but it was friendship and exploration of beauty. After the enjoyment, we made our way back to our home. Each of us carried a piece of Munnar memories.  Everyone  enjoyed every little moment and returned with  happy faces.

June 23, 2022, was a fine day, on which I, along with my parents was travelling to Palakkad from Angadipuram railway station. A lot of seats were vacant when the train arrived. We settled ourselves in a compartment where we saw another family who boarded along with us. They were travelling to Ottapalam to see 'Varikkasseri Mana'. In that family, there was a little girl who was almost 2 or 3 years old. It was her first train journey. She was so excited, as well as scared to see the strangers. She was having a chocolate Snickers. I asked for a bite playfully but she rejected peacefully😆. I was having a Five-star chocolate and I offered it to her. She was willing to take it. When I gave her that, she offered me her Snickers. After that, we became so close that she sat on my lap and watched the scenery outside the window excitedly. I named the little girl 'Aychu'. She was so comfortably enjoying the journey. Aychu playing with my watch. When a station arrived, the chaiwala came and I bought one chai with banana fry. She loved the banana fries so much and I didn't even get to taste it. After some time she slept in her mother's lap. At that time, I remembered that I was not at all interested in going back to Palakkad. So, I was so sad but after playing with Aychu I forgot my sadness and enjoyed her company very much.

The journey I started as being sad ended up being happy. Someone had said earlier that seeing a child's happy face would clear your sad heart. It was so true today that I felt it. Aychu woke up after some time and came back to me. We played and sang songs together. Her voice was the only voice to be heard in the whole compartment, I thought.

When the Ottapalam station arrived, she said bye, gave a hug, and left the train. The whole family was so kind-hearted that we invited each other to visit our place someday. Palakkad station arrived and we left the train.

There was a king a long time ago. He was a great man who was loved and respected by his subjects. He expanded his territory by waging wars but was merciful even when he conquered other lands. This was because of his undying devotion to god. 

Sometimes, to investigate his subjects' well-being, he roamed through the streets of his kingdom in disguise. One such day, he passed by the house of a farmer. The farmer had some cows and goats. When he was eavesdropping on them, he heard a conversation between a mother and a daughter.

He heard the mother asking her daughter to add plain water to the milk. The daughter said to Mom that for today, don't we have sufficient for the sale? The mom replied that we could add some water to it. But the daughter said to her mom that we can't be dishonest with our business. If the king finds out we will be punished. The mom said to her "well, he is not here so we can add some".

The daughter replied that even if the king doesn't know surely the almighty God will know everything. The king heard everything and went back to his house. The next day he told his son to go out and ask her (the daughter of that farmer) hand in marriage to reward her for her honesty.

From City Noise to Forest Whispers: A Journey of Friendship and Discovery

            One day, the teacher presented a project, arranging all the students in pairs. Unfortunately, I found myself paired with Freya, the girl from the deepest forest. She was a girl who didn't interact much with other students. Suddenly, I didn't know how to talk with her, afraid that she felt the same. Slowly, we started to talk more, not about the project, but about her life and background. Gradually, we became best friends.

            One day, she shared details about her home and surroundings, revealing that she used to live in the deep forest. If she closed her eyes, she could feel the darkness of the forest, the sunlight coming through the gaps in the trees, and two birds humming amidst the waves of the waterfall. I thought she was very fortunate to live in such an environment, as closing my eyes only brought the sounds of city horns and the murmur of busy people rushing for their time.

            Then, she told me about how she spent her free time—playing with wild animals, going hunting, and swimming in the cold rivers. Hearing all this, I truly wanted to explore her world because I was living in difficult circumstances. My parents had separated when I was born, and I alternated between living with my father and at my mother's house at the end of the month.

            I didn't enjoy the noise of the city and the honking cars that were not used in emergencies. The busy people in the city had no time to spend with their families. I felt that my true desire lay with her. I decided that I should go with her to her home and live a peaceful life like hers. So, one day, I gathered all my courage and shared my thoughts with her. She was stunned at that moment. After a few minutes of thinking, she said yes. I packed all my belongings and went to her place to live a beautiful life forever.
